This piece is my interpretation for the death of River Phoenix in 1993. River passed at the age of 23 due to the overdose on cocaine and heroin. This incident took place in the Viper Room, which was opened by Johnny Depp, along with Kate Moss. It was Halloween and the medics failed to arrive in time to revive him.
River Phoenix was known for his reluctance to be taken as a teen idol thanks to his good looks, and he loathed being photographed as well. Died at such a young age, River had managed to showcase his talent in Gus van Sant’s My Own Private Idaho (1991), which won him the award for best actor in Venice Film Festival. Supposedly, River coped with the pressure of fame and unwanted attention by increased amount of drug use, which led to his eventful demise.
To mourn the passing of River Phoenix, Johnny Depp announced the nightclub would be closed each year during Halloween.
